How, you may ask, are these almost award-winning Christmas carol lyrics?  For going on two decades, author Don Allison has created modern Christmas carol parodies set to the tunes of classic carols as part of his popular On My Mind column in The Bryan Times newspaper. Although the carol lyrics themselves have not received any awards, Don’s On My Mind columns have received overall honors in the annual Ohio Associated Press contest. So it’s no joke – well, actually the lyrics are nothing but one big joke – the carols really are almost award winning.
